Der grüne Planet „rollt“
Der Uranus erscheint im Teleskop in grünblauer Farbe, die durch die Zusammensetzung der Atmosphäre aus Methan, Wasserstoff und Helium hervorgerufen wird.
Die Rotation ist - wie bei der Venus - im Uhrzeigersinn und bisher nur an der Wolkenbewegung abzulesen. Diese Drehung erfolgt um eine Achse, die fast parallel zu seiner Umlaufbahn liegt: Der Planet „rollt“ also auf seiner Bahn, und so wird es an jedem Pol 42 Erdjahre lang Tag und ebenso lange Nacht.
